Hello everyone! In today's post, I will teach you how to create a home lab with ElkStack and Azure. Why did I make the ElkStack on the cloud instead of using VM software such as VirtualBox? I want to improve my cloud and cyber defense skills, and learning to put home labs on the cloud is a great practice. Let's begin!

Create a Virtual Machine in Azure Portal

First, log in to the Azure Portal. Afterward, click Create a Resource and then select Create Virtual Machine. In this step, I will set up the Ubuntu virtual machine inside the Azure Portal. Select the subscription that you plan to purchase or use Azure credits with.

Under the resource group, create a name. In this case, I named it ElkStack. Please note that I cannot add dashes or spaces; it is case-sensitive. Afterward, under the instance details, I named the virtual machine. For this step, I gave it the name Elkstack 1, but a user can provide the virtual machine with any name…
